About

In the fall of 2006, the Madison-Oneida School Library System initiated the School Library Media Specialist Mentoring Program.  School librarians with more than five years of experience were paired with beginner librarians, in order to provide a mechanism for school librarians new to the field to share, learn and communicat with other librarians about the unique challenges of this exciting profession.

The SLS Mentoring Program has continued every year since 2006.  Mentor teams meet and communicate regularly.  They share student learning experiences, management hints, lesson ideas, and favorite resources.  They also attend the regional Leatherstocking Conference together as well as the Annual Conference of the New York Library Association, Section of School Librarians.
